Pina Colada is a 6yo stallion selected for the WBFSH world championships and ridden for the Netherlands by Kirsten Brouwer. He placed 3rd in the 6yo consolation round two and earned a place in the final.
Pedigree is Governor /Dayano/Flemming/ Nimmerdor.
It is an interesting pedigree, albeit technically rather difficult, but it does show important patterns which can be followed here in both parents.
The main pattern throughout the pedigree is Nimmerdor / Amor seen in different configurations.
Dam of Totilas, Lominka, on the 3rd generation shows a Nimmerdor / Amor pattern, with the Amor appearing on the dam side as one of the grandparents at 5 x 6.
Charmante, dam of Jazz on the 4th generation, shows Nimmerdor with Amor in a different configuration, with Nimmerdor as a grandsire on the sire line and Amor as a dam sire at 6 x 6.
Very importantly on the bottom dam line on the 3rd generation is mare Cynodor, who is by Nimmerdor out of an Amor mare at 4 x 5.
Nimmerdor is coming through a daughter in Cynodor which sex balances the Nimmerdor in Pina Colada, and Amor is also sex balanced at 6 x 6 x 5.
These Nimmerdor / Amor patterns are setting a structure and pattern throughout the pedigree which adds in strength and layers in complexity, and it is presented in such a way that the power of these lines would certainly have been available to Pina Colada and any of his progeny. Bloodlines and sibling formations do not always have to follow the strict sire / dam sire pattern ; they can be present as a grandparent or a great grandparent, and they still add richness and layers of common genes into the pedigree.
Pericles daughters are at 6 x 7 x 6 which are a nice filly factor.
Landgraf I can be seen through sons only at 5 x 5 but Linaro on the 4th generation comes to the rescue with a Ladykiller daughter – sire of Landgraf – and this is the next best thing to sex balance the sire of a line only seen through sons. Krack C is also very heavy on Ladykiller sons so this also frees up the power of this bloodline for him. The Ladykiller daughter can only be seen on the 7th generation (on AllBreedPedigree site).
It is also quite a prolific mareline, having produced high level competitors in both dressage and showjumping.
Overall this is a very solid pedigree design.
