Ready to Rumble

Ready to Rumble is a 5 yo stallion at the WBFSH World Breeding Championships ridden by Saskia Gerrits-Poel.

Pedigree is Le Formidable / Ampere / Negro / De Niro.

Most fortuitously for us, he has a very tight pedigree within five generations where the duplications can be clearly seen and pointed out. Of course there are very important genetic relationships occuring further back which are contributing to this horse but it is too complex to present in a short piece.

This horse is largely of Dutch blood and has a similar pattern to quite a few of the others we have recently looked at including Proud James and Franklin.

Flemmingh is at 5 x 4 sex balanced.
Ferro is 3 x 4 x 4 sex balanced.
De Niro is 4 x 4 via two daughters, which is a filly factor and a highly desirable element for a breeding stallion to have on his side.
Donnerhall is 5 x 5 x 5 sex balanced.

The dam EOS-Utopia has the tighter genetic dominance, and the sire has been able to hook into this with a simple sex balance of three lines as well as adding a daughter line to create two daughters of a sire. This is how to build in filly factors. Also having the ancestors lined up on the same generation, as on the dam side, adds to their balance, complexity and strength. If line breeding can be achieved both sides on the same generation (or one out ), it provides more stability and equilibrium. It is not always possible to achieve this and can take careful planning.

It is important to note that the same ancestors are present on each side of the pedigree – Flemmingh, Ferro, De Niro and Donnerhall. When displayed in this way they form a structure of ancestors in patterns of tightly grouped clusters, which are more likely to be inherited together in this formation.

This pedigree has alot of strength and symmetry, with the ancestors all lined up in very close positions and not choked up by an overloaded male presence. It is an excellent example of a successful simple sex balancing of bloodlines along with daughters of a sire, and how to create balance and flow in a pedigree design.
